The main source of zinc in electroplating and metal processing wastewater is the dragging solution of electroplating or pickling. The pollutants are transferred to the rinsing water through the metal rinsing process. The pickling process includes first immersing the metal (zinc or copper) in strong acid to remove the oxide on the surface, and then immersing it in the brightener containing strong chromic acid for brightening treatment. The wastewater contains a large amount of hydrochloric acid, heavy metal ions such as zinc and copper and organic brighteners, which are highly toxic. Some also contain highly toxic substances that cause cancer, teratogenesis and mutation, which are very harmful to human beings. Therefore, electroplating wastewater must be carefully recycled to eliminate or reduce its pollution to the environment.

The filter on electroplating is mainly used for the following purposes: 

  1. Circulating filtration. There may be dust in the electroplating solution and burrs falling from the hanger. In addition, the anode may also produce anode mud. These impurities may float on the parts to be plated to form defects. Therefore, in electroplating production, installing the filter circulating filter tank liquid can reduce the generation of such defective products, Generally, it is required to filter 4 ~ 6 times per hour;

  2. During the large-scale treatment of tank liquid, the tank liquid is used for a certain time or some other tank liquid defects. It is necessary to remove the electroplating additives and other impurities in the tank liquid. The treatment steps are adding hydrogen peroxide (or potassium permanganate) - heating - adding activated carbon adsorption - filtration. At this time, the filter is mainly used to filter out activated carbon and other solid impurities;
